FOCUS
ON THE LIST LISBON Portugal • Some spots keep calling you back, not loud, just steady, like wind against glass. This is the story of how we fell in love with an off-the-beaten-path corner of Portugal, and the adventure of sharing it with my closest friends.
DESERTED DENMARK • The World Class Kiteboard Academy is a mobile boarding school for young kiters that travels the globe visiting different kite spots. They recently spent part of the school term in Jutland, Denmark, which, despite having world-class conditions, was virtually deserted, meaning they had dreamy spots entirely to themselves..
Under AIRUSH the Hood… • Alex Pastor, former World Champion, industry pioneer, and long-time Airush rider, has just become the brand’s new owner and CEO. As Airush enters a bold new era with new shareholders, a renewed focus on innovation, and a strengthened leadership team, Alex shares how his career, vision and deep connection with the brand are shaping the next chapter.
THE CREATORS. • “Change The Tide” is a film capturing the story, spirit and vision behind Harlem Kitesurfing. It seemed like a good time to catch up with Harlem’s founder Alexander Morgenstern and find out a bit more about him and the brand he has created. And of course we couldn’t chat to him without mentioning Harlem’s historic triumph at the recent Red Bull King of the Air!

IN DA HOOD • Hood River is one of the meccas of kiteboarding, with numerous pro riders either hailing from there or making a regular pilgrimage. Noè Font is one of those who spends time there every year and this summer joined forces with Andre Magarao to snap these shots. They tell us about why they love the spot for kiting, for photography, and for the vibe.
WAVES BETWEEN US • You no doubt heard the heartbreaking news that pro rider Graham Howes passed away in September, while kiting at his home spot in Cape Town. His brother Craig Howes recently photographed Carl Ferreira, a good friend of Graham’s, and they wanted to honor Graham in this piece, remembering him through the lens of kiteboarding.
LOCAL HERO • Brazilian rider Erick Anderson stands out for his incredible level and style. Unfortunately, he hasn’t always had the opportunities to travel and show everything he’s capable of. But ask anyone on the freestyle tour – no one wants to be in the same heat as him when the GKA world tour comes to Brazil! This season, while most riders were in Abu Dhabi for the first stop, photographer Andre Magarao, who has known Erick for many years, spent some time shooting with him and fired him a few questions.
CAPE CRUSADERS • Cape Town is well known for its long, sandy beach at Blouberg where events like King of the Air take place. But it pays to travel to other spots along the Cape coastline. Being local, Camdyn Kellett knows where to head when conditions are right, and often takes his father and photographer Andrew along to grab the shots. We hear from them both about their recent missions battling the elements.
APPLETREE A TOUR OF THEIR FACTORY • Have you ever stepped inside a 3,500 square meter surfboard factory? Appletree have opened the doors of their Portugal facility to take you on a full tour – through their history, their inhouse innovations, and the...
